This private day trip from El Gouna offers a comfortable and well-organized way to visit Luxor and its main historical sites. The tour is designed for travelers who prefer a private experience away from large groups, with a flexible pace and personal guidance.
Your journey begins with a transfer from El Gouna to Luxor in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle. In Luxor, you will visit the Valley of the Kings, where many ancient Egyptian pharaohs were buried, and see tombs decorated with detailed wall paintings. Continue to the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, built into the limestone cliffs and dedicated to one of Egyptβs most important female rulers.
You will then stop at the Colossi of Memnon, the two large statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, located near the remains of his mortuary temple. The tour continues to Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex in ancient Egypt, featuring temples, courtyards, and the Great Hypostyle Hall with its massive columns.
The trip includes private door-to-door transportation, a professional Egyptologist guide, and lunch at a local restaurant. This day tour combines history, comfort, and personal service, with clear pricing and flexible cancellation options.
Your day starts with an early morning pickup from your hotel in El Gouna. Travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to Luxor, with a driving time of approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. A short stop is included along the way for breakfast, snacks, or coffee.
Upon arrival in Luxor, continue to the Valley of the Kings, the main burial ground of New Kingdom pharaohs. This necropolis contains royal tombs carved into the desert hills, decorated with scenes and texts related to ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.
Your entrance ticket allows access to up to three open tombs. Inside the tombs, you will see wall paintings and inscriptions based on ancient funerary texts such as the Book of the Dead, the Amduat, the Book of Gates, the Book of Caverns, the Book of the Heavenly Cow, and the Litany of Ra. These texts describe the journey of the soul, judgment in the afterlife, and rebirth.
Your Egyptologist will recommend three well-preserved tombs from those open on the day, which may include KV2 (Ramses IV), KV6 (Ramses IX), KV1 (Ramses VII), KV8 (Merenptah), KV14 (Tausert and Setnakht), or KV15 (Seti II).
Visits to additional tombs such as KV62 (Tutankhamun), KV17 (Seti I), or KV9 (Ramses V & VI) require separate tickets with extra fees, payable on-site.
After the Valley of the Kings, visit the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari. The temple is built into the limestone cliffs and consists of three terraces connected by ramps. It was constructed during the reign of Queen Hatshepsut (18th Dynasty, New Kingdom), one of the few women to rule ancient Egypt.
Walk through the colonnaded halls and visit the Chapel of Hathor, the Chapel of Anubis, and the Sanctuary of Amun. See the reliefs that depict the Punt Expedition, one of the most important events of Hatshepsutβs reign. After the visit, continue to the Colossi of Memnon.
Stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two large seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Each statue stands about 18 meters high and once marked the entrance to his mortuary temple, which no longer exists. The statues are associated with ancient legends related to sounds reported in antiquity.
After the stop, cross to the east bank of Luxor.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Visit the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest religious site in ancient Egypt. The complex was expanded over many centuries by different rulers, from the Middle Kingdom through the Greco-Roman period.
Enter through the First Pylon and see part of the Avenue of Ram-Headed Sphinxes. Visit the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 massive columns, the Sacred Lake used for priestly rituals, the Red Chapel, several obelisks, the Sanctuary of Amun, the remains of the Taharqa Column, and the large scarab statue. The site reflects the contributions of pharaohs such as Thutmose III, Hatshepsut, Seti I, Ramesses II, Amenhotep III, Nectanebo I, and others.
After completing the visit to Karnak Temple, begin the return journey to El Gouna. The drive takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel.
