Day-by-Day Egypt Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Aswan & Island Temples

  • Morning – Seamless Arrival: Your tour begins with a smooth pickup in a private, air-conditioned vehicle from your Aswan location (Airport, Hotel, or Train Station).

  • The Aswan High Dam: Drive across this massive engineering marvel built in the 1960s. Your guide will explain how it transformed modern Egypt by controlling the Nile’s annual floods and generating electricity, offering panoramic views of Lake Nasser on one side and the Nile on the other.

  • Philae Temple: Take a scenic motorboat ride over the Nile to Agilkia Island. Here, you will explore the beautiful temple complex dedicated to the goddess Isis, saved from the rising waters of the Nile by a monumental UNESCO rescue project.

  • Afternoon – Embarkation: Board your private Dahabiya charter. Meet your dedicated captain and crew, enjoy a welcome lunch on deck, and spend a relaxing afternoon settling into your luxury cabin.

Overnight: Aswan (Onboard).

Meals Included: Lunch and Dinner.

Day 2: Sailing North to Kom Ombo

  • Morning – Leisurely Cruise: Enjoy breakfast on the sun deck as the Dahabiya spreads its sails and flows north downriver. Watch the changing scenery of yellow sand dunes contrasting with green date palms.

  • Kom Ombo: The boat docks directly alongside this dramatic riverside monument. Your private guide will walk you through this unique, perfectly symmetrical double temple, shared equally by two gods: the Crocodile God (Sobek) and the Falcon God (Horus the Elder). You will also visit the fascinating Crocodile Museum right next door to see mummified ancient crocodiles.

  •  Quiet Mooring: Drop anchor near a peaceful Nile island away from the crowded cruise ships. Savor a gourmet dinner under the stars prepared by your onboard chef.

Overnight: Near Esna/Edfu (Onboard).

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 3: Edfu Temple & Sailing to Esna

  • Morning – Local Experience: After a delicious breakfast on deck, step off the boat for a traditional horse-drawn carriage ride through the bustling streets of Edfu town, adding a touch of authentic charm to your morning commute.
  • The Temple of Horus at Edfu: Step into ancient Egypt's most impeccably preserved monument. Dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus, this soaring sandstone masterpiece is the second-largest temple in the country. Because it lay buried beneath protective desert sand for centuries, its massive pylon gates, towering columns, and intricate hieroglyphic reliefs—depicting the legendary battle between Horus and Seth—remain completely intact, offering an incredibly vivid window into the past.
  • Relaxation on Deck: Return to the Dahabiya for a lunch meal. Spend a peaceful afternoon reading, sunbathing, or chatting with the crew as you glide smoothly through the historic Esna lock.
  • Evening – Farewell Celebration: Enjoy a special final dinner onboard, featuring a feast of authentic local flavors accompanied by traditional music and warm hospitality from your dedicated crew.

Overnight: Esna / Luxor borders (Onboard).

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Day 4: Luxor’s West & East Banks – Disembarkation

  • Disembarkation & West Bank Transfer: Enjoy your final breakfast onboard before saying goodbye to the crew. Your private, air-conditioned vehicle will pick you up from the Dahabiya docking point in Esna and provide a seamless, comfortable 1-hour scenic drive north to the famous city of Luxor to begin your archaeological exploration.
  • The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut: Arrive at El Deir El Bahari to marvel at this breathtaking architectural masterpiece. Rising out of the sheer desert cliffs in a series of dramatic, towering terraces, this unique temple honors Egypt's most successful female pharaoh and mirrors the natural majesty of the mountain landscape behind it.
  • The Colossi of Memnon: Stop at the edge of the floodplains for a photo opportunity with these two legendary, 60-foot-tall stone statues. Standing guard for over 3,400 years, these giant figures depict Pharaoh Amenhotep III and are all that remain of his once-massive mortuary temple.
  • Karnak Temple Complex: Cross over to the East Bank of the Nile to explore the largest religious complex ever constructed by human hands. Walk through the jaw-dropping Great Hypostyle Hall, wandering amidst a literal forest of 134 colossal sandstone columns that will make you feel delightfully small.
  • Final Departure & Seamless Transfer: After a spectacular day of discovery, your private driver will provide a smooth, comfortable transfer to your chosen location in Luxor (Airport, Hotel, or Train Station) for your onward travel.

Meals Included: Breakfast.

Great service. We had a wonderful time. Our guide Abdel Salam was very kind, spoke excellent English and shared his extensive knowledge with us. We had a private AC car. Visited most of the main sites in Cairo over two days. Would highly recommend.

Our experience on the Dahabiya with Golavita was absolutely fantastic. We had a very professional guide, Mohamed Nagdy who spoke excellent Spanish, and we learned about the fascinating history of Ancient Egypt in a relaxed and enjoyable way. The Dahabiya Iris is truly recommended, a perfect combination of comfort and culture.

We had booked airport transfers from Hurgada airport to our resort in May 2022 and our experience was excellent. What sets this company apart was the responsive service we got through WhatsApp messaging. You may not be aware of this but meeting a taxi driver at airport is not so easy or obvious as the security personnel does not allow drivers in or even standing by the entrance. It all was resolved easily by WhatsApp communication. I cannot overstate how important is having a rapid response when something does not go as you would expect. Thank you Ashraf. I am aware this company does much more than airport transfers: while I did not use any during my stay, I wouldnot hesitate to recommend this organisation to plan for your excursion needsin Hurghada.Update April 2023: Used them again for this trip booking through Hoppa, same excellent service.

We organiced a big 2 day trip via Akram, two month before from germany. Communication before (and after) was very good! Serious agency. Also special wishes (flights for six people cairo, luxor, balonride) were also taken into account. Thanks!

Ashraf was our Egyptian professional guide for a Czech small group planned "Sacred journey to the chacra temples of Egypt". As the title already says, not only were we using his incredible life experience of an egyptolog, tourist guide and organiser. We were also using his experience with the places themselves, which of the extra tickets are worth the money to visit the extra places, which of the villages and shops are fair and having good things. And of course all the historical stories linked to the places we visited with open mind to some new more alternative explanations of happenings too. The organisation of our trip from Hurghada, through Asuan, Luxor, Ghiza and back Hurghada is fully his expertise. Minivans, boat, train... He was always with us handling all to our happiness ❤️ Buying extra water, bananas or ordering better for stomach digestion food.

We spent three days and four nights on a Dahabiya cruise with our guide Abdullah — it was an amazing experience, both fascinating and relaxing. The whole crew went above and beyond to make us comfortable, the boat was beautiful, and Abdullah’s tours were clear, engaging, and often funny. We had a wonderful time and now recommend this cruise to all our friends!
