• The Giza Plateau: After lunch, confront the heavyweights of antiquity: the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren,  and Menkaure besides the Valley Temple of Khafre, and the enigmatic Great Sphinx staring eternally east. We will visit a premier panorama point for a breathtaking composition of all three pyramids cutting through the desert haze.

• The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM): Marvel at over 5,000 objects recovered from Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922—including the iconic gold death mask, the solid gold innermost coffin, and his ceremonial chariots—displayed together in their entirety for the first time in history. Stand before a staggering feat of preservation, "Khufu's Solar Boat": a 43-meter cedar vessel buried beside the Great Pyramid around 2500 BCE, designed to carry Khufu through the afterlife.

• Fly to Aswan: Breakfast at the hotel, and then ride the air-conditioned vehicle, heading to Cairo International Airport to catch the early morning domestic flight south to Aswan. Intimate, tranquil, and rich with Nubian culture, Aswan offers a beautiful change of pace.

• Philae Island: Board a motorboat to the Temple of Isis, a majestic complex saved block-by-block from the rising waters of Lake Nasser in the 1970s. Surrounded by shimmering waters and graceful colonnades, its breathtaking island setting and beautifully preserved carvings create an atmosphere of timeless wonder unlike anywhere else in Egypt.

• The Cruise: Board your 5-star Nile cruise ship. Spend the afternoon relaxing on deck, or opt for a scenic felucca sailboat ride around the granite islands or visit a local Nubian village.

• Abu Simbel (Optional Pre-Dawn Excursion): Journey deep into the desert by private, air-conditioned vehicle to witness Ramesses II’s ultimate act of self-glorification. • Kom Ombo Temple: After lunch on board, we sail north to a rare, perfectly symmetrical double temple dedicated simultaneously to Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the Elder. Next door, visit the Crocodile Museum to see dozens of ancient mummified crocodiles.

• Edfu Temple: Breakfast on board, and experience riding a traditional horse-drawn carriage to the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved major temple in Egypt. Flanked by enormous granite falcons, its towering walls still carry their full, majestic height.

• The Esna Lock: Return to the ship to navigate the Esna Lock. Watch the cruise lower through the water chambers while local merchants paddle alongside selling textiles in a lively, chaotic spectacle.

• Luxor Temple: Arrive in Luxor just as the sun drops. Walk the famed Avenue of Sphinxes and stand beneath the seated colossi of Ramesses II as the stone turns golden in the twilight.

• Nile Cruise Check-out: Disembark the cruise after breakfast to cross over to the Theban Necropolis—an ancient city of the dead operating for over five centuries.

• This is the day: After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever constructed. Wander through the Great Hypostyle Hall, a forest of 134 monumental columns reaching up to 21 meters high. Then, the universe takes center stage.

As a flawless celestial alignment takes hold, daytime transforms into an eerie dusk, planets pierce the shadows, and a sudden chill sweeps through the desert air. Standing amidst structures built for solar worship thousands of years ago, you will witness the Sun's corona bloom safely with the naked eye.
