Imagine standing where ancient Egyptian priests once mapped the cosmos, watching the day turn to night. On August 2, 2027, the sky above Luxor will darken for a staggering 6 minutes and 23 seconds—marking the longest land totality since 1991, and a record unbroken until 2114. Our exclusive 11-Day Egypt Total Solar Eclipse Journey is an expertly curated itinerary designed to position you at the exact epicenter of this cosmic wonder.
Your voyage begins in Cairo, where you will unlock the foundations of history at the step pyramid of Saqqara, stand before the iconic Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, and explore the landmark Grand Egyptian Museum. From the capital, you will fly south to Aswan to board a luxury Nile cruise, gliding past the temple of Philae and sailing down the timeless river toward Kom Ombo and Edfu.
The true magic unfolds in Luxor as you explore the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple before gathering under the monumental pillars of Karnak Temple. Here, at the ultimate vantage point, you will witness the Sun’s corona bloom over structures built for solar worship thousands of years ago. To conclude this unforgettable solar eclipse tour, you will cross the desert to Hurghada, spending your final days unwinding and reflecting on the cosmic majesty along the pristine, sun-drenched beaches of the Red Sea.
The Evening: Yours to spend at leisure. If you have the energy, join our optional Cairo by night tour to see the illuminated facades of the old city carry a completely different magic after dark "this optional tour is on your charge."
Meals: None included.
Saqqara Complex: Beat the crowds at the world’s first large-scale stone structure, the Step Pyramid of Djoser (built circa 2650 BCE). Explore the nearby Unas Pyramid to witness the Pyramid Texts—the oldest religious carvings in human history—and the exquisitely detailed Tomb of Princess Idut that shows how the daily life of the ancient Egyptians was.
The Giza Plateau: After lunch, confront the heavyweights of antiquity: the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Menkaure besides the Valley Temple of Khafre, and the enigmatic Great Sphinx staring eternally east. We will visit a premier panorama point for a breathtaking composition of all three pyramids cutting through the desert haze.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM): Marvel at over 5,000 objects recovered from Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922—including the iconic gold death mask, the solid gold innermost coffin, and his ceremonial chariots—displayed together in their entirety for the first time in history. Stand before a staggering feat of preservation, "Khufu's Solar Boat": a 43-meter cedar vessel buried beside the Great Pyramid around 2500 BCE, designed to carry Khufu through the afterlife.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch (served inside the museum complex to maximize your viewing time).
Authentic Dining: Enjoy lunch at a traditional Old Nubian restaurant featuring heritage cooking.
The Cruise: Board your 5-star Nile cruise ship. Spend the afternoon relaxing on deck, or opt for a scenic felucca sailboat ride around the granite islands or visit a local Nubian village.

Abu Simbel (Optional Pre-Dawn Excursion): Journey deep into the desert by private, air-conditioned vehicle to witness Ramesses II’s ultimate act of self-glorification. Two colossal temples were carved directly into a sandstone cliff face around 1264 BCE in honor of the great pharaoh and his queen Nefertari. Standing in the hypostyle hall beneath the towering statues of Ramesses II is an experience of pure physical awe. "on your own charge."

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (Overnight docked in Edfu).
Edfu Temple: Breakfast on board, and experience riding a traditional horse-drawn carriage to the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved major temple in Egypt. Flanked by enormous granite falcons, its towering walls still carry their full, majestic height.
The Esna Lock: Return to the ship to navigate the Esna Lock. Watch the cruise lower through the water chambers while local merchants paddle alongside selling textiles in a lively, chaotic spectacle.
Luxor Temple: Arrive in Luxor just as the sun drops. Walk the famed Avenue of Sphinxes and stand beneath the seated colossi of Ramesses II as the stone turns golden in the twilight.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Hatshepsut’s Mortuary Temple: Visit Deir el-Bahari to view the striking, three-terraced monument built for Egypt's most powerful female pharaoh.

The 2027 total solar eclipse will sweep across a broad corridor of Egypt, with the central line running just southeast of Luxor. This places Luxor directly within the most favorable viewing zone along the entire global path.
Luxor and its surrounding temples experience the longest duration of totality—6 minutes and 23 seconds—making it the premier eclipse destination worldwide. This also marks the longest total solar eclipse visible from land since 1991, and the longest that will occur until 2114.
Early booking is essential, as demand is expected to be extremely high and availability—especially for Nile cruises and prime Luxor hotels—will be limited well in advance.
When choosing a tour operator, ensure the itinerary clearly states that eclipse viewing takes place within the central path of totality, not just anywhere in Egypt. Look for packages that include:
Securing written confirmations before paying a deposit is strongly recommended.
To safely observe the eclipse, you must use ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses during all partial phases. This includes the periods before and after totality.
Looking directly at the Sun without proper protection—even through regular sunglasses—can cause permanent eye damage.
However, during the brief period of totality (13:02–13:08), the eclipse glasses should be removed. At this moment, the Moon fully covers the Sun, revealing the solar corona, which is safe and spectacular to view with the naked eye.
